Finding Confidence, On and Off the Field
Cam is just five years removed from high school but he is already the full-time Athletic Director at Hillsboro-Deering Middle School in New Hampshire.
He’s in this role because he didn’t have to choose between pursuing a degree and building up his resume with valuable work experience.
When a mentor introduced him to Duet in 2021, he was intrigued. He had already been questioning whether the traditional college model was for him but he also knew he’d need to earn a degree to pursue a career in athletics.
Duet was different. He decided to enroll.
The self-paced model aligned with his learning style, and one-on-one coaching gave him the accountability he needed.
“Meeting with my coach, Caesar, every week kept me organized and on track,” Cameron said. “He taught me how to build [organizational] systems that I still use every day.”

And the flexible curriculum allowed him to work while in school. He built valuable experience at the YMCA working his way from youth programs to program coordinator. That role sharpened his relationship-building skills—a foundation for his coaching philosophy.
While he was working, Cam earned an Associate’s in Business Management through the Duet program and then transferred to SNHU’s Global Campus program to earn his Bachelor’s in Sports Management. The coursework helped him discover an academic confidence in himself and the leadership skills that help him be a positive influence on the young people he works with every day.
“Without Duet, I wouldn’t have these degrees, and I wouldn’t be where I am today,” he said. “I want more people to know this opportunity exists.”
